Nasrin and Zamaan’s wedding was a mix of Afghani Ismaili Culture and East African/Indian Ismaili Culture and I absolutely loved being a part of it! There were so many unique traditions that happened during their event. First Nasrin and Zamaan each smashed a clay pot with their feet and the tradition says the person to smash it first would be the head of the household! (Try to see if you can spot who smashed it first in the photos!)Then when it was time to cut the cake, Nasrin’s sisters stole the knife (which was almost like a mini sword!) and they kept dancing and dangling it in front of Zamaan until he paid them to get it back! There were so many other fun traditions as well as lots of dancing! You also don’t want to miss Nasrin and Zamaan’s beautiful portraits at Knox College at U of T with their bridesmaids and groomsmen which are to die for! Check out my favourites below! Nasrin and Zamaan, thank you for letting me be a part of your beautiful wedding!
